Dr. Darlene Bernard was raised in the Washington-Baltimore area and matriculated at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland in 1985, where she fell in love with obstetrics and gynecology. In 2008, her hand dexterity was restricted due to rheumatoid arthritis. She was blessed to be the medical director of the Charleston Hormone and Health Center for over seven years. She currently works as a functional gynecologist just outside of Charleston, SC, and spends her time taking care of those who do not have health care, both at home and internationally.
In May of 2021, Darlene will be joining The Center for Occupational and Experimental Medicine. This practice has been a staple in the Charleston area since 1978. One of Darlene’s goals in this practice include preconception care to increase nutritional status and decrease the toxic load in the mother prior to conception.
As an OB/GYN she treats one patient at a time, but in truth she understands the impact on three generations when considering treatment plans. This makes therapeutic partnership very paramount in Functional Gynecological care.
