Clinical competencies to be mastered through the module:

• Define and understand the importance of energy regulation and mitochondrial function from a clinical perspective.
• Employ advanced approaches to history, physical examination, and laboratory assessments to improve the recognition of clinical syndromes related to mitochondrial function and energy regulation.
• Individualize functional treatment protocols to address mitochondrial dysfunction and increased demand for cellular energy.
• Identify common antecedents, triggers, and mediators underlying mitochondrial dysfunction and increased energy demand in clinical syndromes and map energy regulation issues to the functional medicine clinical matrix.
• Develop and apply a personalized approach to preparing for clinical encounters.

The CME option is intended for clinicians who need to fulfill continuing education requirements. If you do not need CME credits, you may purchase the non-CME option.

IFM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

MD/DO: The Institute for Functional Medicine designates this live activity for 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC points available: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 15.25 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

DC: Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) provides continuing education credit for chiropractic physicians. Continuing education approval applications are submitted by NWHSU to all state chiropractic boards except Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin.

ND: Generally, state naturopathic boards accept courses accredited through the ACCME.

Nursing Professional: For the purpose of re-certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), contact hours approved through ACCME are accepted.

PA: For the purpose of re-certification with the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), contact hours approved through ACCME are accepted.

RD: The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) automatically accepts courses accredited through the ACCME.

Acupuncturist: IFM is a continuing education provider (provider #0232) of the California Acupuncture Board (CAB). IFM applies to CAB for this course. Per the Recertification Handbook of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), courses approved by a state acupuncture regulatory board are eligible to submit with the re-certification application. Note: California acupuncturists must attend this course in full to receive any approved CPEUs. Partial credit is not available.

You have access to two quick-reference guides which summarize condition-specific laboratory assessment and nutraceutical interventions, which will help you efficiently create personalized assessment and treatment plans.

REGISTRATION POLICY

Program materials and CME certificates are delivered to you through your personal IFM online account. For this reason, you may not register multiple people or someone other than yourself. No registrations will be taken after 4:00 pm PT, Thursday, August 17, 2023.

PARTICIPATION 

Live participation from August 18 – 20, 2023, is required for this IFM program. You must participate in the broadcast by logging in to your unique IFM account to receive CME credit and to fulfill IFM Certification Program requirements. Livestream log-in information is unique and cannot be shared. Those who do not log in through their own IFM account during the live broadcast will be removed from the program and will not receive program materials, recordings, CME credit, or credit toward the IFM Certification Program. 

CANCELLATION 

Cancellations must be received in writing no later than 4:00 pm PT, Thursday, August 17, 2023, to be eligible for a refund. Tuition is non-transferable. Failure to log in to the livestream broadcast with no prior written cancellation will result in complete forfeiture of tuition and the course will not count toward certification (nonrefundable, nontransferable, no exceptions). Program materials are available only to participants. Just as is the case with in-person courses, participation is limited to the paid registrant. Log-in information is unique and cannot be shared.

Cancellation requests must be submitted via the Course Cancellation Form. IFM will reply with a written acknowledgement once processed.

My registration for the Advanced Practice Module (APM) signifies that I have read and agreed to IFM’s cancellation policy found above. My participation in the APM is not a substitute for any licensing requirements that may be applicable to me and does not independently authorize me to render care, prescribe regimens, or prescribe medications or supplements. My activities in the health and wellness field remain subject to my education, qualifications, and licensure.
