Today’s Landscape

During the past decade, convincing evidence has accumulated that conquering heart disease is not simply a matter of driving serum cholesterol down. In fact, one-half of the people who have a heart attack have normal cholesterol and now low cholesterol is being associated with a significant risk of early cognitive decline. New information is available. Clinicians are no longer limited to using antiquated measures of cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugars as the primary markers of increased risk for cardiometabolic disorders: advanced lipid assays, markers of oxidative stress, inflammation, hormones, and body composition are all providing new opportunities for safer and more effective early interventions to prevent and reverse cardiometabolic disease.

IFM’s cardiometabolic Advanced Practice Module

The module will help clinicians understand the physiology underlying cardiometabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease, new approaches to effective assessments and treatments, and how to integrate these lifesaving tools into practice.

IFM and Clinical Education (UK)

IFM is proud to partner with Clinical Education

Clinical Education is a Not-for-Profit organization based in the United Kingdom that brings a range of educational experiences to healthcare professionals in the UK and EU. They have a hard-earned reputation as an independent provider of expert-led nutrition and lifestyle medicine education.

Clinical Education and IFM have worked closely together since hosting the inaugural AFMCP UK in 2011 and the collaboration has grown stronger each year. Clinical Education sponsors and organizes IFM educational events for practitioners and clinicians who are unable to attend IFM programs held in the United States. They contribute rich clinical experience in the production of regionally adapted content and presentations, creating an invaluable experience for practitioners by keenly connecting the presented material to practice implementation for international audiences. This partnership continues to have a significant impact on our mission of the global widespread adoption of functional medicine.

Practice Implementation

To assist in implementing functional medicine into your practice and/or business, a full suite of practice implementation handouts will be available to you in your course materials. These quick reference guides summarize key clinical takeaways to help you streamline patient visits and efficiently create personalized treatment plans. You will have access to handouts detailing lifestyle and nutritional interventions, and nutraceutical sup

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I have more questions, who should I ask?
Please contact info@IFM.org with any additional questions.

Who is organising this program?
IFM is organising this Advanced Practice Module Cardiometabolic.  Clinical Education is partnering with IFM to provide critically important regionalization for the UK/EMEA region.

Is the Module the same as the one run in the US time zone?
The Cardiometabolic Advance Practice Module will be run at the same level and high standards as the US broadcast. The presentations will be adjusted to account for variations in the language, laboratory profiles and medications. The EU/UK has a different regulatory network relating to food supplements than the USA and some changes to the content will be made to reflect that. In addition, the tests discussed will be ones that are obtainable in the UK through relevant laboratories or their distributors, details of which will be hosted by the Clinical Education Virtual Exhibit Hall.

Who is the course designed for?
Functional medicine has long encouraged an integrative approach to clinical education. This course is for healthcare practitioners who are already qualified in a core discipline and applicants/attendees must be a graduate of an accredited medical, osteopathic, chiropractic, naturopathic, homeopathic, dietetics, acupuncture, pharmacy, physiotherapy or nutritional therapy programme. If you have any doubts you may contact IFM . Previous training in functional medicine is desirable but not essential; a good understanding of the role nutrition plays in health is also helpful.

Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements for this course does not guarantee acceptance into IFM™’s Certification Program. Healthcare practitioners who would like to continue their Functional Medicine education with IFM™ and seek certification will need to apply directly to IFM™ to have their eligibility determined. You can find their eligibility requirements here. Every application is evaluated on educational background, program degree, regulatory status, and clinical experience.

If the presentations are recorded, why do I have to attend live?
You must check in and be present for the duration of the Live Rebroadcast to receive CPD credit and to fulfill IFM Certification Program requirements.  This has been pre-approved by IFM™ as eligible for the Certification programme.

I want to talk about the course with someone, who do I contact?
Please contact IFM Experience Team via telephone, email, or live chat
Phone: [800-228-0622]
Email: info@ifm.org
Live chat available M-F from 8:00 to 4:30 PST
