Clinical competencies to be mastered through the module:

• Recognize the relationship between systemic disease and toxic exposures through a clear understanding of the pathophysiology of total toxic load and synergistic effects of both toxicants and toxins.
• Identify diseases and dysfunctions potentially associated with chronic toxicity and specifically recognize the relationships between chronic toxic insult and neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, autoimmunity, mitochondrial dysfunction, endocrine disruption, and carcinogenesis.
• Apply the PURE principles for managing patients with toxicity concerns (Pattern recognition, Undernourishment, Reduce toxins, Ensure a safe detox).
• Integrate screening questionnaires and detox-specific physical exam findings within a functional medicine intake to discover and assess relevant toxic exposures, and to also track individual’s responses to their environments along with therapeutic interventions.
• Recognize and address the most important antecedents, triggers, and mediators of toxic overload, including impaired biotransformation, dysbiosis, impaired excretion, and nutritional deficiencies.
• Appropriately apply and interpret reliable laboratory evaluations of toxic load and biotransformative capacity.
• Develop personalized dietary treatment using the IFM Elimination Diet and Detox Food Plan suites.
• Apply various nutraceuticals, botanicals, pharmaceuticals, and lifestyle interventions to increase mobilization, biotransformation, and elimination of toxic compounds in the body.

IFM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

MD/DO: The Institute for Functional Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 18.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC Points Available: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 18.5 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

DC: IFM will submit an application to Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) who will apply to all states, except Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. For a complete list of states and approval hours, please contact IFM.

ND: Generally, naturopathic state licensing boards accept continuing education courses accredited through the ACCME. Please contact your state naturopathic board to inquire if CME credits from ACCME-accredited organizations are accepted.

Nursing Professional: For the purpose of re-certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), contact hours approved through ACCME are accepted. Please contact your state nursing board to inquire if continuing education credits from ACCME-accredited organizations are accepted.

PA: The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts all continuing education credits from organizations accredited by the ACCME. Please contact your state physician assistant board to inquire if continuing education credits from ACCME-accredited organizations are accepted.

Acupuncturist: IFM is a continuing education provider (provider #0232) of the California Acupuncture Board (CAB). IFM will submit an application to CAB for 18.5 Category 1 hours. Per the Recertification Handbook of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), courses approved by a state acupuncture regulatory board are eligible to submit with the re-certification application. Please contact your Board to inquire if continuing education credits approved by the CAB are accepted. Note: California acupuncturists must attend this course in full to receive CPEUs. Partial credit is not available.

RD: The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) automatically accepts CME courses accredited for AMA PRA Category 1 credits^TM through the ACCME. Therefore, pre-approval is not required of IFM. Please check with your state licensing board to inquire if prior approval by CDR is required to obtain continuing education credits for an activity despite this circumstance.

Other: Please contact your healthcare licensing board to inquire if continuing education credits from ACCME-accredited organizations are recognized and accepted toward fulfilling your continuing education requirements.

REGISTRATION POLICY

Program materials and CME certificates are delivered to you through your personal IFM online account. For this reason, you may not register multiple people or someone other than yourself. No registrations will be taken after 4:00 pm PT, November 03, 2022.

Participation

Live-stream participation from November 04 – 06, 2022, is required for this IFM program. You must participate in the broadcast by logging in to your unique IFM account to receive CME credit and to fulfill IFM Certification Program requirements. Live-stream log-in information is unique and cannot be shared. Those who do not log in through their own IFM account during the live broadcast will be removed from the program and will not receive program materials, recordings, CME credit, or credit toward the IFM Certification Program.

LIVE-STREAM CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations must be received in writing no later than 4:00pm PT, November 03, 2022 to be eligible for a refund. Tuition is non-transferable. Failure to log in to the live-stream broadcast with no prior written cancellation will result in complete forfeiture of tuition and the course will not count toward certification (nonrefundable, nontransferable, no exceptions). Program materials are available only to participants. Just as is the case with in-person courses, participation is limited to the paid registrant. Log-in information is unique and cannot be shared.

Cancellation requests must be submitted via the Course Cancellation Form. IFM will reply with a written acknowledgement once processed.

My registration for the Advanced Practice Module (APM) signifies that I have read and agreed to IFM’s cancellation policy found above. My participation in the APM is not a substitute for any licensing requirements that may be applicable to me and does not independently authorize me to render care, prescribe regimens, or prescribe medications or supplements.
