Academic Medicine Membership Benefits

The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that, as the global leader in the field of functional medicine, offers exemplary education and certification. IFM has Accreditation with Commendation awarded by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

IFM offers select academic institutions a direct line to IFM programs, services, and benefits. Membership in IFM facilitates a solid understanding of functional medicine, from foundational concepts to application in clinical practice. Designated individuals at partner institutions receive customized benefits, including tailored integration of functional medicine content and clinical tools into existing curricula.

The cost of the Academic Medicine Membership is $2,700/year.

A digital subscription to Integrative Medicine: A Clinician’s Journal (IMCJ), published six times per year. IMCJ provides peer-reviewed and scientifically accurate information about alternative and conventional therapies.

Course discounts apply for faculty enrollments not supported by scholarship funds.
Scholarship funds may not be used to cover fees for continuing medical education (CME) credits.

** For the purpose of this agreement, "Scholarship" refers to the waiver of registration fees, excluding CME fees, for IFM core programming for selected individuals.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the Find a Practitioner directory, clinicians may qualify to be listed in this online directory. Each month, over 100,000 new patients search this referral network of health professionals trained in functional medicine.

Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA)

Health coaches are the bridge between the primary care provider’s plan of care and patient implementation. As the only health coach certification program designed in collaboration with IFM, FMCA provides the gold standard in health coaching education and focuses specifically on behavior change within the collaborative care model. This membership includes a special discount on FMCA’s health coaching certification program as well as health coach hiring services for your organization.

AMS: A Medical Liability Insurance Company

AMS offers IFM members 15% off premiums and supports functional medicine clinical practice by advising on the use of consent and protocols, identifying high risk processes, and sharing advancements that increase safety and mitigate unnecessary claims. Eligible clinicians include MDs and DOs.
