Information for Patients

From the practitioner: About My Practice

My functional medicine practice is centered on the therapeutic partnership between patient and provider. Once establishing a partnership based on mutual respect, the practitioner and patient work together as investigators compiling a medical history which begins in the womb and continues with the triggers and mediators of disease including but not inclusive of food choices, sleep/rest schedules, exercise/movement, stress, toxic environments and people, tobacco and drug use, occupations, and mental/ spiritual connections. All of these factors determine our wellness and longevity. I have discovered, even in my own life, that it is never to late to alter the trajectory of your wellness. This has been proven by the science of epigenetics.

From the practitioner: What Patients Can Expect

Function Medicine takes a deep dive into our medical histories in order to find areas of dysfunction. There is rarely an easy fix to restore wellness. Patients as well as providers would like a simple prescription to reverse many levels of bodily dysfunction but the medical community has failed patients with this approach for over a century. I ask patients to begin their wellness journey with slow, intentional steps to wellness which include learning lifesaving lifestyle modifiable behaviors and the elimination learned bad health habits. The journey to wellness is obtainable with longstanding commitment, a promise to our future self.
