From the practitioner: About My Practice
We’re an intentionally small, cardio-oncology nutrition practice on a mission to empower people to live longer, healthier lives after cancer and cardiometabolic disease. We use an integrative and functional medicine approach to personalized nutrition to assess and address the root causes of cancer, cardiometabolic disease, and other chronic conditions.
We believe that big health challenges like cancer and cardiometabolic disease (read: the top two causes of morbidity in the United States) require big health solutions. As such, we integrate what we do (personalized nutrition) with what doctors do (personalized medicine) for bigger, better health solutions that may lead to the best health and treatment outcomes.
From the practitioner: What Patients Can Expect
Personalized nutrition care from one cancer survivor to another | Our lead practitioner, Janell Kaplan, is an Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM)-trained practitioner and a board-certified and state-licensed nutritionist practicing in the DMV — District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. She’s also a long-time cancer survivor with cardiometabolic risk factors related to cancer therapies she received in 1999. Janell delivers personalized nutrition care with the competence of an expert cardio-oncology nutritionist and with the compassionate heart of a cancer survivor.
