Valter Longo, PhD

Dr. Valter Longo, a renowned expert in aging and disease, is the Edna M. Jones Professor of Gerontology and Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California. His research at the Longevity Institute focuses on understanding and harnessing the body’s natural ability to repair itself.

Longo’s groundbreaking work has led to the development of the Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD), a 5-day dietary intervention that has shown promising results in reducing the risk factors and markers associated with aging and disease. His team is currently exploring the potential of FMD to activate stem cell-based regeneration and promote longevity.

Recognized for his significant contributions to the field, Longo has received numerous awards, including the Nathan Shock Lecture Award from the National Institute on Aging and a feature in Time Magazine’s “50 Most Influential People in Health Care.”

Committed to improving public health, Longo donates all author proceeds from his books, such as “The Longevity Diet,” to support research and programs aimed at promoting healthy aging and preventing disease.
