IFM Announces First Endowed Chair in Functional Medicine

Oct 2, 2015

The first endowed chair in Functional Medicine at a major academic medicine center has been established at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Mark Hyman, MD, chairman of The Institute for Functional Medicine, will hold the endowed chair position, which has been funded by The Pritzker Foundation to advance education, research, and innovative clinical models at Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine.

IFM CEO Laurie Hofmann, MPH, reflects the excitement felt throughout the Functional Medicine community: “This historic opportunity reflects a growing awareness in academic medicine of the need for new approaches to the chronic disease epidemic. Functional Medicine offers a unique architecture and operating system designed to help practitioners and their patients improve both treatment and prevention of complex, chronic disease. We deeply appreciate the vision and generosity of The Pritzker Foundation in taking this groundbreaking step.”
