Information for Patients

From the practitioner: About My Practice

After practicing in a traditional family medicine setting for over 17 years, I opened Spero Wellness Clinic in January 2017. Spero is a direct-pay, functional medicine clinic. I enjoy working with families for preventive care, and also enjoy helping those struggling with chronic illness figure out how to achieve better health. Utilizing functional medicine principles, we search for and attempt to correct the root cause(s) of illness, rather than simply treating/masking symptoms with meds. We gather a thorough history and use standard & specialty labs to help assess what your body needs more of, and what needs to be removed. We look at this process as a long-term partnership, and are committed to working with your in pursuit of wellness.

From the practitioner: What Patients Can Expect

Once interested patients fill out our health history form, they schedule a 90 minute intake visit with me (Dr. Gering). Utilizing your history, symptoms and findings on physical exam, I will make recommendations on lifestyle, diet, basic supplements +/- IV nutritional therapy. Then together we decide what further steps and/or tests make sense to do next. We will arrange a follow-up visit in 2-3 months to see how preliminary protocol has worked, and to review results of specialty labs if obtained. We will then hone your plan further based on those results and how you have done thus far. Realistically, we know that many chronic illnesses may take 1-2 years of hard work to fully turn around, but believe that long term wellness is possible!
