Reversing Cognitive Decline Advanced Clinical Training, September 2017 (ACT)

• Recognize mild cognitive impairment and early dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease and differentiate these from other causes, including non-Alzheimer’s dementia.
• Evaluate the physiological underpinnings of MCI and early AD and the rationale for the systems approach to intervention that utilizes multimodal treatment strategies.
• Determine which of the six major subtypes of MCI/early AD that a patient has and select appropriate laboratory tests to evaluate the major contributors to each patient’s dysfunction.
• Explain the critical role of the collaborative care team approach in successfully treating MCI and early AD.
• Evaluate the importance of technological advances including neuroimaging, cognitive assessments, and therapeutic cognitive training in assessing and treating MCI and early AD.

IFM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

MDs AND DOs: The Institute for Functional Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Osteopathic Association has approved IFM’s courses for Preventive Medicine certification within the American Osteopathic Board of Preventive Medicine.

DCs: Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) provides continuing education credit for chiropractic physicians. Applications were submitted to all states, except Arizona and Oklahoma, for 13 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). For a complete list of states and approval hours, please contact IFM. Please note: most state boards do not accept live stream courses for CEUs. Chiropractors are encouraged to attend the live program if they require CEUs.

NDs: Generally, programs that are accredited through the ACCME to provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits are approved by individual Naturopathic state licensing boards. Please contact your individual state board to inquire if continuing education credits from ACCME-accredited organizations are accepted.

Nursing Professionals: For the purpose of re-certification with American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), contact hours approved through ACCME can be used. The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) also accepts continuing education credits from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

PAs: The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts all continuing education credits from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

RDs: Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs) are not available for this course.

Other: Please contact your state licensing board to inquire if continuing education credits from ACCME accredited organizations are accepted and can be obtained from this conference.

Program materials and CME certificates for both in-person and live-stream programs are delivered to you through your personal IFM online account. For this reason, you may not register multiple people or someone other than yourself. Online registration will close at 4:00 pm Pacific on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. After online registration closes, you may still register by phone or in person at the check-in desk if you are attending the in-person program (subject to space). Late registrations will incur a $300 processing fee.

Live-Stream Participation Policy

Live participation September 9–10, 2017, is required for this IFM program. You must participate in the broadcast by logging in to your unique IFM account to receive CME credit. Live-stream log-in information is unique and cannot be shared. Those who do not log in through their own IFM account during the live broadcast will be removed from the program and will not receive program materials, recordings, or CME credit.

in-person Participation Policy

You must check in and be present in person at the in-person program to receive CME credit. Only registered attendees with name badges will be allowed in the conference room. Children and unregistered spouses may not attend the program or sponsored events.

In-Person Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received in writing no later than August 30, 2017, to be eligible for a refund, less a $150 cancellation fee. Cancellations received after August 30 and before September 9, 2017, are eligible for a refund less a $300 late cancellation fee. Tuition is nontransferable. Failure to appear at the program with no prior written cancellation will result in complete forfeiture of tuition (nonrefundable, nontransferable, no exceptions).

Live-Stream Cancellation Policy

Switching Policy

Switching from the in-person event to the live-streaming option or from the live-streaming option to the in-person event, will incur a $150 processing fee until August 30, 2017. Requests to switch made after August 30, 2017, will incur a $300 processing fee. Requests to switch must be submitted no later than 4:00 pm PST on Friday, September 8, 2017, in writing to tabithabarth@ifm.org or faxed to 253.661.8310. Switches can only be made from the in-person to live-stream format (or vice versa) for the program you are registered for.
